We are delighted to announce that we have appointed FareShare Scotland as our charity of the year and made a commitment to donate 2% of our net profits to support the charity.

FareShare Scotland collects good quality, in date surplus food from retailers and producers and redistributes it to more than 476 frontline charities and community groups, to improve the life chances of vulnerable people in Scotland. This food is transformed into nutritious meals for places such as homeless shelters, women’s refuges and breakfast clubs for disadvantaged children.

With over 90 staff across four offices in Scotland, we make an annual commitment to charity. The decision to appoint FareShare Scotland further underlines our commitment to support good causes in local communities.

Edward Bruce, CEO of Bruce Stevenson Insurance Brokers, said: “Our teams raise thousands of pounds for charity every year. Last year, we supported the Beatson Cancer Unit – a cause close to our heart.”

“This year, we have opted to partner with FareShare to focus our fundraising efforts on one dedicated charity. There are people and families in our communities who are literally going hungry and the reality is that there are incredible levels of wastage with food products.

Bruce Stevenson Insurance Brokers Nominated Charity FareShare Scotland

CEO of Bruce Stevenson Insurance Brokers Edward Bruce presented a cheque (funds raised from Charity Cycle) to Gillian Kynoch Head of FareShare Scotland at their depot at Jane Street in Edinburgh.

Gillian Kynoch, Head of FareShare in Scotland, said: “We are delighted to be supported by Bruce Stevenson Insurance Brokers this year. It will really help raise our profile and hopefully encourage even more Scottish food companies to consider saving and redistributing their food surplus. We can ensure that rather than going to waste it helps to support the most vulnerable people in our society.”

Each year we hold several fundraising events in an effort to raise funds for our nominated charity. This year our biggest event to date has been our Tour O Borders cycling event.
